Course summary
The Men’s Health Essentials one-day training is designed to support primary care healthcare professionals in confidently assessing, diagnosing, and managing common men’s health presentations. Men often present late with health concerns, and primary care plays a crucial role in early detection, prevention, and timely referral. This interactive programme focuses on practical, evidence-based approaches to sexual health, urological conditions, and cancer awareness, with an emphasis on real-world clinical decision-making.
The course combines short taught sessions with case-based discussions and practical skills to ensure learning is relevant, engaging, and immediately applicable to everyday practice.

Frontline Primary Healthcare practitioners who take care of male patients and deal with sexual and male related complaints.
Aims / objectives
- By the end of the programme, participants will be able to:
• Take a sensitive, structured, and comprehensive sexual history from male patients.
• Assess and manage erectile dysfunction using evidence-based approaches in primary care.
• Recognise erectile dysfunction as a potential marker of underlying cardiovascular disease.
• Confidently assess lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) and differentiate benign prostatic hyperplasia from suspected prostate cancer.
• Apply appropriate use of PSA testing, including shared decision-making and referral pathways.
• Perform a focused testicular examination and identify normal and abnormal findings.
• Recognise red flags for testicular and prostate cancer and act appropriately.
• Improve confidence in managing common men’s health presentations through case-based learning.
