The focus will be on the older or chronically ill patient who has an eye complaint. Community practitioners able to identify ophthalmic needs can maintain their patient's independence and ensure they remain in the community for their care.

- Be able to take a targeted, safe ophthalmic history
- Develop your skills in assessing patient vision and conducting a basic ophthalmic examination without the use of specialist equipment
- Improve your overall skills in assessing elderly and chronically ill patients complaining of an eye problem
- Feel more confident in making appropriate interventions and referrals

- Aetiology of ophthalmic disease
- History taking: the chronically ill or older patient with an eye problem
- Assessment of vision including basic examination of the eye
